WELCOME!
The El Medio Fire Protection District is located just south of the Oroville City limits. The district being approximately 2 square miles with a compliment of urban and wild land areas. With a population of over 6,000, and receiving approximately 1,200 calls per year, makes El Medio Station 3 on average the second busiest station in Butte County.

El Medio Fire Department Profile
About the Department...
El Medio has established itself as a paid professional fire
department. The department is led by Fire Chief
Olhlausen who reports directly to a board of directors.
This Board is composed of members from the
community that we provide service to. Currently, there
are 10 sworn personnel working for the department,
which are supported by volunteers and civilian
employees.
The Department consists of four operational divisions
to better serve the citizens of El Medio. These divisions
are Administration, Operations, Fire Prevention, and
Training.

Automatic Aid Agreement
El Medio Fire Department is an active participant in an automatic
aid agreement with the City of Oroville and Butte County.
Providing medical services in areas outside the district where El
Medio would be first due. The department is also active in the
statewide mutual aid system making firefighting resources
available throughout the County and State.
Fire Station
The Department has one station housing one engine. Engine 313
is staffed with three personnel. EMFD is a safe station were
anyone can go to escape a threatening environment.
