Here at El Medio Fire we respond to a variety of calls including:
- Medical Calls
- Structure Fires
- Vegetation Fires
- Vehicle Fire
- Refuse Fires
- Improvement Fires
- Hazardous Materials Incidents
- Traffic Collisions
- Public Assist Calls

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants must submit a completed El Medio Fire Department Application in person or by mail. Incomplete applications or
applications submitted via e-mail or fax will not be accepted. This Procedure is subject to change.
Part I
Your application will be screened by the Operations Captain and the Fire Chief for minimum qualifications (possession of
State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 or certified academy and E.M.T.) If you meet these requirements your name will be placed
on an eligible list.
Part II
If successful in part I, You will be contacted by a Fire Department Representative giving you an appointment for your
written test.
Part III
After receiving a passing grade on your written and physical examination, you will be given an appointment for an oral
board interview. Shortly after you finish your interview you will be given your ranking and the ranking will determine
whether or not you proceed to the Chiefs Interview Portion.
Part IV
Upon completion of part III, you will be placed on the eligibility list for one year, pending a physical examination and drug
test.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a minimum of:
- California State Fire Marshal Firefighter I or completion of a certified Firefighter I Academy.
- Possession of a current E.M.T. certificate.
- CPAT (maximum of 2 years prior to application date)
- Possession of a valid California Class C Drivers License.
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Posses a valid High School Diploma or G.E.D.
