We offer a unique volunteer program to
allow members of the community to get
involved in a support role. We provide
training, equipment and experience in
modern fire ground tactics and strategies.
This program is also an excellent place to
gain experience for those interested in a
career in the Fire Service.

RIDE-A-LONG PROGRAM
EL MEDIO FIRE DEPARTMENT
CITIZEN RIDER PROGRAM
The El Medio Fire Department has instituted this program in
order to allow members of the community an opportunity to ride
along with your Firefighters and observe them performing their
duties. We would hope that by your participation in the program
you will gain insight into the everyday problems which face our
community and how your Fire Department responds to them.
OBSERVER RULES & INSTRUCTIONS
- The request for ride-along form must be completed and
liability waiver signed.
- The minimum age for applicants is 14 years with
Parent/Guardian approval.
- Submission of false information will disqualify the observer
from the program.
- Observer must agree not to discuss names of persons
involved in fire incidents. Observers will be considered
confidants of the Fire Department and it is essential that
all matters pertaining to evidence or statements gathered
in an investigation be held confidential.
- Observer must not leave the vicinity of the vehicle unless
cleared to do so by the Officer.
- Observer or Officer may terminate the ride-along at any
time.
- Observers are required to be neatly dressed. Females
should wear either pants outfit or a dress; males should
wear a neat pair of pants and shirt. Observers will not be
allowed to participate if they appear in faded/patched
jeans, T-shirts, halter tops, etc.
- For purposes of safety and Officer efficiency, the
observer must obey ALL instructions or rules, written or
verbal.
- Photographic equipment and recording devices are NOT
to be used by observers. Use of these items could
constitute an invasion of privacy of any suspects or
victims who may be encountered during the course of the
ride-along. Special arrangements for schools or
organizations who wish to publish articles can be made
through the Fire Chief.
- It should be understood that participation in this program
is a privilege NOT A RIGHT and that the basic premise of
the ride-along program is to establish rapport with the Fire
Service about the functions of Emergency Service.
EL MEDIO INTERN FIREFIGHTERS
Become an Intern Firefighter with the El Medio Fire Department. Get extra points when you test for a Full Time
position and gain valuable expierience in the fire service. Applicants must meet all Full Time Firefighter
